childhood dreams

Dreamer
Childhood dreams do come true.  Never mind that I'm way beyond childhood.  As a child, I so badly wanted my own horse.  I took riding lessons, but our family did not have the extra money to purchase or maintain a horse.  In college, I got a job on a horse farm.  I could ride as often as I found time as long as the chores got done on time.  It really was a great job; even on the bitter cold Minnesota winter mornings.  After college, life just rolled along and the dream of horse ownership lay dormant for many, many years.  Never dead, but still and quiet.
Phantom
Last week, the dream of horse ownership became reality.  Not just one, but two horses.  Two wonderful, beautiful, sweet, and gentle horses.  Dreamer and Phantom joined our family on July 2, 2013.  Without the work of my tireless husband, this would not have happended.  Blessed and overjoyed.  I haven't decided who is more happy...the kids or me.

quiet

A thank you to my husband for taking all three kids and leaving the house for the afternoon.  I love that the kids get 'dad time' and I get quiet time.

But, it's not quiet time for nap-taking or for catching up on shows recorded on my DVR.  It's time for me to have the entire house to myself...finish washing/folding laundry AND put it away, get the dishes done, sweep up the 'beach' in my entry-way, and all the other things that get put on hold when the kids are needing mommy for something; homework help, hair brushed and braided, etc.

I can't remember the last time I was alone at home...just me.  It really is quiet...too quiet perhaps. But, really nice. Time to turn up the music and get to work.

To my hubby, I am grateful for you. An amazing husband, a fantastic dad!

When I feel like I have finished the tasks I set out to finish, I may even find time to take a run...
a little me time!

hand-me-down

My husband sent this picture to me from practice tonight.  He is so proud!  :)  His daughter (8 years old) is wearing a practice jersey he used to wear when he played hockey.
 Love it!!
When she first started skating, I was really consumed with worry; is she going to get hurt, is she going to skate well enough, and on and on.  Now, I worry less and enjoy her energy and enthusiasm.  The worry I had was keeping me from enjoying her games and time with other parents cheering on the team.  As long as she is playing hockey, I will worry.  But as long as she is having fun, I will support her!
